Welcome to my blog ~
So what interesting tidbits can I toss your way so you won’t be bored silly reading about me?
Well for starters, I have a few nicknames that people know me by – Dollfin, dollfini, giraffe, kid, etc. Online I mostly go by dollfin – I absolutely love the ocean and everything about it. Some day – when I’m old and grey and don’t have a recognizable braincell left in my cranium, I am hoping to finally get my degree in Marine Science. Some day.
I’m really not sure how to do this so maybe I’ll try this:
The Good:
I love counted cross stitching - from frilly to silly, just whatever catches my eye.
I have an eccentric/eclectic sense of humour.
When it comes to books and movies, I love things that makes one think. Of course, I have been known to read the dictionary when really bored (can’t say you weren’t forewarned!)
The Bad:
I am a native Californian in my early 40s, transplanted from my beach to the Pacific North Wet – don’t get me wrong, it is beautiful here but I miss home so much sometimes, I truly get homesick for the ocean.
The Ugly:
In Sept. 2007, I had congestive heart failure and pulmonary embolisms due to a viral/virus infection that attacked my heart, especially my left valve. If you remember in the news about how some people had come down really sick with bronchitis/pneumonia, wound up in the hospital and died from it, well, apparently I had the same thing but I survived – I have been fighting depression from what all happened, plus family stuff (my mom has cancer, my older sister is disabled so things get a bit tense at home sometimes as we all live together – can’t afford it any other way) sometimes gets me down, but I’ve been working through it trying to get better.
I was an avid stitcher for many years but ever since I got sick, I stopped. Until this last August when it started calling to me. It has been a good form of therapy for me in many respects as I am having to work from home until I get stronger.
In my blog writings, you may find some spiritual stuff and other stuff as well. It just depends on my mood. So far, I’ve tried to stick mostly to stitching but it may branch out. Knowing me and my ramblings, it most likely will.
So anywho, if you’ve read this far, thank you
I hope my intro wasn’t too much of a downer, but I felt it’s best to be upfront on what you will find here. Just me and my ramblings….:)
P.s. Gain the wind is a nautical term that refers to: To arrive on the weather, or to windward, of some ship or fleet in sight, when both are sailing on the wind - it is an extremely difficult move to make – and I don’t do anything the easy way.
